Doris K. ‘Red’ Wilson

Doris K. ”Red” Wilson, 95, of Belleville, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 31, 2023, at Valley View Haven Nursing Home, Belleville.

She was born on Oct. 5, 1928, in Huntingdon County, to the late William H. and Clara (Taylor) Kennedy. On Aug. 13, 1948, she married Thomas H. Wilson, who preceded her in death on April 4, 2017. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter Marjorie Ellen Wilson, sons Timothy F. Wilson and Thomas W. ”Stu” Wilson, son-in-law Robert W. Sharp, siblings Eldon Kennedy, Marie Chop, Lorena Meyer, Ruth Jones, Helen DeForrest, and Marion Longenecker. She was the last of her immediate family.

Surviving are daugh- ters, Jane Luke and husband Frank of Belleville, Cindy Sharp of Lewistown, Betty Jo Johnson and husband George of Milroy; grandchildren, Brandon Weaver, Nathan Weaver, Chad Sharp, Eric Kinslow, Susan Hale, Angela Breon, Jason Weaver, Jennifer Clark, Amanda Wilson, Emily Wagner, Brandy Wileman, Megan Frankhouser, and Mallory Wilson; brother-in-law: Edwin Longenecker of Petersburg; 25 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and one great-great-granddaughter; daughter-in-law, Kathy Wilson of Lewistown, as well as a number of special nieces and nephews.

She worked at KV Dairy and Abbott’s Dairy in Belleville as a milk tester and lastly at Rolls Royce Owners Club as a secretary. She owned and operated her own sewing shop in the early 1970s in Belleville.

She was a member of West Kishacoquillas Presbyterian Church in Belleville, a volunteer at Valley View Haven Nursing Home in the cafe for many years, a member of the local card club for many years and enjoyed playing cards, sewing, doing crafts and was an avid reader.

There will be a memorial service held at West Kishacoquillas Presbyterian Church, 3820 West Main St., Belleville, on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Ela J. Robertson officiating. A luncheon and time to visit with the family will follow the service in the church social hall. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
