Mildred M. ‘Millie’ Groff

Mildred M. “Millie” Groff, 84, of Lititz, died peacefully on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2023, at United Zion Retirement Community. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Fannie Myer. Millie was the loving wife of the late Richard G. Groff Sr. who died in Dec. of 2022. For many years Millie worked in the Deli Department at Weis Market in East Peterburg. She was a member of Erb Mennonite Church, Lititz. Millie’s interests included: flower and vegetable gardening, cooking, baking, needle work of all kinds, crocheting, cross stitch, embroidery, and making the best home-made candy. She loved taking care of her home, and was passionate of having a clean house. She enjoyed working her entire life and she deeply valued a good day of working for herself or helping others.

Surviving are four sons: Richard G. Jr. husband of Dianne Groff of McClure, Clair E. husband of Justina Groff of North East, MD, John D. husband of Rachel Groff of Bellville, Nevin L. husband of Roseann Groff of Lititz, four grandsons, seven great grandchildren, and a sister, Carol DeVerter of Reading. Preceding her in death are five brothers and five sisters.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Millie’s funeral service from the Erb Mennonite Church, 567 West Lexington Road, Lititz, on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 3:00 PM. There will be a viewing at the church on Saturday afternoon from 2:00 PM until the time of the service. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
