Janet E. Snyder

Janet E. Snyder, 84, of Lewistown, passed away on Monday, Sept. 18, 2023 at William Penn Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born April 1, 1939 in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Elizabeth (Mowery) Russell. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Gary W. Snyder, granddaughter, Ashley M. Hight, and siblings, Jackie Russell, and Betty Berger.

Janet is survived by her children, Brian Snyder and wife, Lisa, of Allensville, and Dionne Hight and husband, Ronald, of Columbus, OH; grandchildren, Tyler Snyder and wife, Litisha, Alyssa Nearhood, and husband, John, Kyle Hight and fiancÈ, Courtney Shultz, Dylan Hight and wife, Kalisa, Cassidy Hight, and great-grandchildren, Cayden, Conner, Josie, London, Milan, Jason, and Hayes.

Earlier in life, Janet was a member of Highland Park Presbyterian Church, and most recently attended Trinity United Church of Christ in Lewistown.

She served as executive director at the Beacon Lodge Camp for the blind for 33 years, where she received recognition for her meritous service at the camp, and her support and leadership to contribute towards the strength and growth of the camp. She was a member of Habitat for Humanity, and The Burnham Lions Club. On Saturdays, she loved to watch her beloved Penn State Nittany Lions play football, and often times traveled to away games to watch them. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially those beloved Sunday breakfasts.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 22, 2023 at Trinity United Church of Christ, 20 Oak St, Lewistown, PA 17044, with Pastor Chris Lutz officiating. The family will provide all flowers.

Interment will be private.

Arrangements have been entrusted to King-Barr Funeral Home LLC, 120 Logan Street, Lewistown.
