Dale S. Shelley
								Dale S. Shelley, 91, of McAlisterville, passed away at 1:26 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2023, at Messiah Lifeways in Mechanicsburg.
Born on Jan. 15, 1932, in Evendale, Juniata County, he is a son of the late Oscar and Elva (Smith) Shelley. On Oct. 7, 1950, in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in McAlisterville, he married his late wife, Donna L. (Fogleman) Shelley, with whom he was blessed to share more than 72 years of marriage before her passing on Feb. 28, 2023.
He is survived by his children, Randall L. Shelley and his wife, Barbara of Mechanicsburg, Steven S. Shelley and his wife, Lynn of Everett, and Dana L. Passmore and her husband, Michael of Mechanicsburg; six grandchildren, Brock Shelley and his wife Joanna, Sheena Dellinger and her husband, Andrew, Jason Shelley and his wife, Vicki, Stacey Clark and her husband, Chris, Madison Passmore, and Ben Passmore; nine great- grandchildren; one brother, Leo Shelley of Lancaster; one sister, Ruthann Smith of McAlisterville; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Michael D. Shelley and one sister, Faye Bitting.
Mr. Shelley was a 1949 graduate of Juniata Joint High School in Mifflintown and proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy from June 15, 1949 to April 10, 1953, during the Korean War.
He attended the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in McAlisterville and was very active in different organizations within the church for many years.
Dale was employed as an Insurance Agent for more than 35 years and owned his own insurance agency for over 25 years.
Mr. Shelley was heavily involved with serving the community in different capacities. He served as a former Juniata County Commissioner for 12 years; served as a former Juniata County School Board member for more than five years; was a former Chairman of the Hillside Cemetery in McAlisterville; was a past manager for the McAlisterville Little League Baseball Team and played baseball with the McAlisterville Baseball Team in the 1950s and 1960s.
His memberships included a life membership of the Amvets Post 122 of Thompsontown, the American Legion Post 298 of Mifflintown, member of the Tennis Lodge No.371 F&AM of Thompsontown; member of the Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Juniata Valley Forest #88, past member and past President of the Fayette Fire Company No. 4, past member of the Fayette Twp. Ambulance Company, and a board member of the Juniata Mutual Insurance Company in McAlisterville.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 25, 2023, at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 420 Main St., McAlisterville with Pastor Karen Ward officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery, McAlisterville where full military burial honors will be accorded by the Juniata County Veterans Council.
A viewing will be held from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral services at 2:30 p.m. on Monday at the Church.
