Karla Sue (Lyter) Voyles

Karla Sue (Lyter) Voyles, 59, went home to be with the Lord at 3:15 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 12, 2023. She will be loved and dearly missed by her loved ones. Born Oct. 10, 1963, she was the daughter of the late Barbara P. (Summers) Lyter and Carl K. Lyter. Karla is survived by her husband of 19 years, Scott A. Voyles. Her siblings Kenneth “Ken” Lyter and wife, Christine Lyter, Richard “Dick” Lyter and wife, Ella “Sue” Lyter, Joseph “Joe” Lyter and wife, Michelle Lyter, and Robert “Bob” Lyter. Her children Charles “Chuck” Hartsock and wife, Minette Hartsock, and Mya Voyles. Her nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
Karla graduated from Lewistown Area High School and Mifflin-Juniata Vo-Tech School in 1983, and sometime after, gave birth to her son. She worked at Scotty’s Fashion until they closed their doors. After that, she began working at Trinity Plastics until she decided to be a stay-at-home mom to raise her newborn daughter for 20 years. Within those 20 years of being at home, she found her love for gardening and just being out in nature. She loved to cook, clean, and decorate/redecorate the house as often as she could. She took pride in doing original craft work with her husband. She loved animals, especially cats, mountain lions, and horses. Most of all, she loved to spend time with her family. After those many years of being at home, she returned to the work force as a housekeeper at Ohesson Manor and shortly after, became an Environmental Technician (EVS) at the Geisinger Lewistown Hospital and continued to work there until she fell sick. Per her wishes, she has been donated to science in hopes of making a difference and will not have any viewing or graveside services.
