Craig A. Freed

Craig A. Freed, 65, of Thompsontown,, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2023, at MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C.

Born on May 26, 1958 in Lewistown, Mifflin County, he is a son of the late Frank D. and Darlene M. (Bossler) Freed. On April 4, 1981, he married his surviving wife, Cathy M. (Musser) Freed, with whom he was blessed to share more than 42 years of marriage before his passing.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Austin N. Freed and his wife Kerra of Newburg, MD; two grandchildren, Layla Freed and Elianna Freed; and two siblings, Lori Hampton and her husband Brian of Gaithersburg, MD and Mark Freed of Prince Frederick, MD.

Craig was a 1976 graduate of East Juniata High School in Cocolamus and a 1980 graduate of Penn State University, University Park where he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.

Mr. Freed was employed by the Army and Navy Branches of the Department of Defense where he retired in June 2021.

He was a member of the Thompstontown United Methodist Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing with toy trains, working on the farm, and spending time with family.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, Sept. 1, 2023 from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville with the Rev. Graham Fowler officiating. Interment will follow at Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Thompsontown.

A viewing will be held from 9:30 AM until the time of the funeral services at 11:00 AM on Friday at the funeral home.
