Robert E. Briar

Born March 3, 1932, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late William E. Briar and Helen Shilling; and stepmother, Florence Schott Briar.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his wife, Sandra Jean Briar, who passed away Feb. 18, 2013; and a son, Robert E. Briar Jr.

He is survived by; children, Connie Smith and husband, Ronald, of Maryland, Richard Briar, of Maryland, Francis W.K. Briar, of TN, and Charles W. Briar and wife, Sheri, of Lewistown; many loving, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Robert was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. He was a lifetime member of Brooklyn Fire House where he also served as captain.

Earlier in life he worked at Standard Steel, where he later retired. Robert along with his wife, Sandy, owned and operated a ceramic shop, in Granville.

Robert enjoyed making and especially painting ceramics, going fishing, and spending time with his family.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, June 23, 2023, at Lind Memorial Cemetery, with Rev. John Harwood officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Robert’s memory to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 21 S. Main St., Lewistown.
