Jacques F. “Jay” Rougeau Jr.

Jacques F. “Jay” Rougeau Jr., 29, of Mifflintown, and formerly of Corry, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2023, in the line of duty.

He was born Sept. 7, 1993, in San Diego, Calif., a son, of Angela (Hunt) Gervasio and her husband, Carlo, of Millcreek.

Jay was raised and educated in Corry and graduated from Corry Area High School in 2012. Jay then attended Penn State Behrend before graduating from Penn State main campus in 2015 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology. He then worked for Weis Markets in loss prevention for several years before entering the PA State Police Academy where he graduated on Jan. 8, 2021. For the majority of Jay’s State Police career, he was stationed with troops in York. In March of 2023, he was transferred to Troop G in Lewistown.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. Jay loved golf, basketball, flying drones, had a fascination with aviation and rooting for Penn State football. He also loved his boxers, Winnie and Charlie.

Jay was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Jason Miller.

In addition to his mother, Jay is survived by his wife, Chloe (Miller) Rougeau, whom he married Sept. 30, 2017, in Corry; sister, Christina Rougeau-Bailey and her husband, Colton, of Corry; brother, Justin Hunt, of Corry; mother-in-law, Melanie Miller; brother-in-law, Nick Miller and his wife, Elizabeth, of Pittsburgh; maternal grandmother, Emily Hunt, of Corry, and maternal grandfather, Kenneth “Poppa Chip” Hunt and his wife, Cheryl, of Corry.

He is also survived by niece and nephews whom he adored, Alaya, Kai and Waylon. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Family and friends are invited for visitation and ceremony, which will be held at the Bayfront Convention Center, 1 Sassafras Pier, Erie, PA 16507. Visitation will be from noon to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, June 26. The ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 27. Rev. Brian Eiss will officiate.

There will be a private graveside ceremony in Mifflintown, at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the PSTA Survivor Fund, 3625 Vartan Way, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
