Gloria B. Hardy

Gloria B. Hardy, of Mifflin, passed away on June 12, 2023 at her home.

Born on July 29, 1944 in Tuscarora Twp., Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late John F. and Josephine (Burdge) Henry.

Surviving are: one daughter, Lori J. Long and husband, Stephen, of Mifflin; two grandchildren, Dusty A. Amtower and wife, Chelsy, of Mifflin, Miranda Fowler and her companion, Hunter Brown, of Mifflintown; the love of her life, pride and joy, great grandson, Waylon Amtower; one brother, Robert Henry and wife, Dolores, of Honey Grove; and three sisters, Jean Henry, of Mifflin, Rose Walker and her husband, Dan, of McVeytown, and Mary “Mert” Parson and her husband, Carl, of Honey Grove.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Dale Henry and Howard “Bunt” Henry; one sister, Ethel “Sis” Berry; and one brother-in-law, Robert Berry.

Gloria loved to go out to eat with friends, Sis Imes and Sonja Arentz, and enjoyed square dancing, listening to Conrad Fisher and attending Raggamuffin Hall, attending the McCoysville Presbyterian Church, and spending time with her family, especially her precious great grandson, Waylon.

She retired after thirty-three years of employment at Empire Kosher Poultry and was a member of the Millerstown Moose Lodge #925 and the Crawford-Brubaker VFW Post 5863 of Mifflintown, and a former member of the McCoysville Presbyterian Church.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge Street, Mifflintown with the Rev. Judy Rowles officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Nook.

A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home on Friday, June 16, 2023 and from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12 noon on Saturday at the funeral home.
