Shirley Freed

Shirley Freed, a remarkable individual who lived a life filled with love, compassion, and dedication. On May 21st at the age of 85, she peacefully departed this world, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Born on August 30th of 1937, Shirley grew up in Decatur township, where she cultivated a deep sense of kindness and a strong work ethic. Shirley embraced life’s challenges with grace and resilience, attributes that would serve her well throughout her journey.

In 1954, Shirley married the love of her life, Donald Freed. Their hearts became intertwined, and together they built a loving family. Although Donald preceded her in death, their bond remains unbroken, and they are now reunited for eternity.

A devoted mother, Shirley poured her heart and soul into raising her three children. Shirley’s love extended beyond her immediate family, touching the lives of nieces, nephews, and close friends who held a special place in her heart. Shirley is survived by her three children, Wanda Tate Bailey, Debora Franklin, and Christopher Freed and their spouses; 4 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 3 step great-grandchildren, and 2 step great-great grandchildren, who will forever carry her memory in their hearts. She will also be fondly remembered by her extended family and friends.

A memorial service in loving memory of Shirley will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday May 24, 2023 at King-Barr Funeral Home LLC, 120 Logan Street, Lewistown, with Pastor Chris Lutz to officiate.

Private Interment will take place in Maitland Cemetery.
