Melvin H. Sweitzer

Born Dec. 23, 1946, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Melvin H. Sr. and Mildred (Frankhouser) Sweitzer. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sisters, Vonnie Sweitzer and Peggy Burke.

Melvin is survived by his loving wife Dawn (Zimmerman) Sweitzer, whom he married on May 23, 1966; his son, Melvin E. Sweitzer, of Lewistown; and sister, Mary Anne Heisey, of Lewistown.

Melvin honorably and faithfully served his country in The United States Army.

Earlier in life, he was employed at The American Viscose Corporation for 10 years, and later at Sperry New Holland for 30 years, retiring in 2006.

He attended Granville United Methodist Church.

He was a member of The Lewistown Moose Lodge No. 143, Vietnam Veterans of America, and a lifetime member of Granville Fire Company, Lewistown City Hook & Ladder, and The Hunter’s Green Hunting Camp.

Details of a memorial service will be announced at a later date.
