Jesse A. Alexander
								Jesse A. Alexander, 83, of Lewistown, passed away Monday, May 22, 2023, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Born on Aug. 7, 1939, in Honey Brook, he was the son of the late Jesse A. Alexander and Bertha (Fike) Alexander Kauffman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his sister, Gloria Gilbert.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Patricia L. (Matter) Alexander; children, David W. Alexander and wife, Patty, of Waynesboro, and Jeanette L. Alexander, of Harrisburg; four grandchildren, Alexander Jesse, Griffin W., Olivia R., and Lillian M. Alexander; nieces, Cheryl Gilbert Woodcock and family, Sandy Vogt and family.
He was a member of the Walnut Street United Methodist Church.
Jesse graduated from Kishacoquillas High School, Class of 1958.
He entered the United States Army and served from 1958-1961, where he received the Good Conduct Medal for distinguishing himself from among his fellow soldiers with his exemplary conduct, efficiency, and fidelity. After returning home from the Army, he entered the Williamsport Technical School where he earned his associate degree.
Jesse worked at Standard Steel for 18 years. He then worked as an Industrial Specialist for the Department of Defense where he retired.
He enjoyed gardening and going to Florida with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was often called Papa Jess. His favorite saying to his children was ‘The mountains are high, and the valleys are low’.
A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Thursday, May 25, 2023, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, 108 First Ave., Burnham, with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m., with Pastor Chris Lutz officiating.
Interment will take place at Birch Hill Cemetery.
