Nancy Lee (Sherwin) Sherman
Nancy Lee (Sherwin) Sherman, 86, formerly of Lewistown, passed away peacefully at the Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin, on Friday, April 5, 2019.
Born Sept. 8, 1932, in Spangler, she was the daughter of the late Lee A. and Lois R. (MacMinn) Sherwin.
She was preceded in death by her former husband, Dr. Hugh I. Sherman Jr., two sisters and a brother.
Nancy is survived by: her three children, Carol Pandel and husband, Roger, of New Tripoli, Douglas Sherman and wife, Martha (Hamilton) Sherman, of West Chester, and David Sherman, of Schwenksville; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She is also survived by: her siblings, David Sherwin, of Montgomery, Texas, Samuel Sherwin, of Mobile, Ala., Daniel Sherwin, of Harrison City, and Alice Sherwin, of Osprey, Fla.
Nancy was a graduate of Indiana High School in Pennsylvania and the West Penn Hospital School of Nursing, Pittsburgh, as a registered nurse.
She served as a registered nurse at West Penn Hospital and Magee Women’s Hospital, Pittsburgh, the Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin, and at Lewistown Hospital, where she attended to patients on 4B until she retired.
Nancy was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lewistown, where she taught Sunday school. She was also a past president of the Charity League and a member of the Red Hats Ladies Society.
A visitation for local friends and family will be held from 2 to 3 p.m., Saturday, April 13, 2019, at the Barr Funeral Home and Crematory, 120 Logan St., Lewistown. A private graveside service will be held in Indiana, Pa., at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Nancy’s memory can be made to the First United Methodist Church, 200 E. Third St., Lewistown, PA 17044, and please specify the “Come to the Banquet” missions program.
