UMC to host Bible study

LEWISTOWN — First Bakers United Methodist Church will host a Bible study every Wednesday at 7 p.m. They will also host a youth group for individuals under age 18 on the first Thursday of each month, except July.

We are in the midst of the season of Lent. TLC will be giving their Lenten offerings to the East Juniata Tiger Treats Program.

Sunday, March 19 is Sonbeam Sunday. This is a day that the staff, children and their families are invited to worship as we give thanks and pray for the Sonbeam Early Learning Center. A potluck lunch will take place after the service.

Pastor Karen is offering First Communion Classes at the end of March-early April for children and their sponsors. Please sign up in the back of the sanctuary. First Communion will take place on Maundy Thursday, April 6 at 7 p.m.

The Willing Workers have made thousands of chocolate eggs so far and they are still making more. Blue order forms are available in the back of the sanctuary. Orders are due March 20.

Chiz Rider to appear at First Baptist Church

MIFFLINTOWN — Nationally-known trumpeter will appear in concert at First Baptist Church in Mifflintown on Sunday, March 12 at 9:15 a.m. Rider performs in over 250 concerts per year throughout America and he has performed with Carman, Dc Talk, Newsboys, and Michael W. Smith. He has also performed at a Billy Graham Crusade and numerous times at the Crystal Cathedral. He played for President Bush’s Central Pennsylvania presidential campaign and for the Pennsylvania and West Virginia Special Olympics opening ceremonies. The Church is located on Route 35, one mile North of Mifflintown.

Free lunch for seniors

at Lost Creek Presbyterian Church

McALISTERVILLE — Lost Creek Presbyterian Church is hosting a free lunch for senior citizens on Monday, March 13, at noon. Church members will be serving shepherd’s pie. After the meal, Jack (Pennsylvania Jack) Graham, storyteller extraordinaire, will share stories from Pennsylvania’s past. If you plan to attend, call the church office at (717) 463-3138 and leave a message. This will allow proper meal count. Lost Creek Presbyterian Church is at 533 Main St. in McAlisterville.

Food giveaway coming up

BEAVERTOWN — Helping Hands, Helping Others Inc. is holding a food giveaway on Wednesday, March 15 from 10 a.m.-11a.m. at the Beavertown Hillbilly Fever Carnival Grounds off East Sassafras in Beavertown. Always the third Wednesday in the month. Please do not arrive before 9:30 a.m. There will be plenty of food available. Volunteers are needed and should arrive at 8:30 a.m. to get organized. Any size donation is appreciated and is a 501-C3 tax donation. Mail donations to P.O. Box 151, Beavertown, PA 17813. Not government funded, so there are no income guidelines.

Mifflin-Juniata Citizens Concerned

for Human Life March for Life

LEWISTOWN — The Mifflin-Juniata Citizens Concerned for Human Life will sponsor the annual Lewistown March for Life on Sunday, March 19, at 1 p.m., walking from Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 3rd and N. Dorcas Sts. to Bethel AME H.O.P.E. Center on N. Juniata St. A rally is scheduled from 1:20 p.m.-2:30 p.m. All are welcome to celebrate life with music, speakers, prayer and fellowship. Pastor Mike Bailey and other local clergy are invited to be present to offer prayer. Speakers will be Christopher Pushaw, Executive Director of the PA ProLife Federation, Bonnie Ritchey from Crossroads Pregnancy Services, and Senator Judy Ward, Pennsylvania’s 30th Senatorial District. Families are encouraged to attend. Those unable to walk can meet the group at the H.O.P.E. Center. The M-J CCHL is a local affiliate of the PA ProLife Federation, Inc., dedicated to the protection of life from conception through natural death.

Free Passover Seder meal

at First Baptist Church

MIFFLINTOWN — A free Passover Seder meal will be held at the First Baptist Church of Juniata County on Route 35, one mile north of Mifflintown on Saturday, March 25 at 5 p.m. in the Family Ministry Center. Rev. Tom Simcox with “Friends of Israel” will be presenting the instructions for the Seder Meal. After the formalities of the Seder Meal which consists of special tastes centering around Jesus Christ; His death, burial and resurrection, we will be serving a main meal which includes: turkey, filling, mashed potatoes, corn, carrots & dessert.
