State police investigate fatal residential fire

From staff reports NEWPORT — Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a fatal residential fire that claimed the lives of an adult and three juveniles early Sunday in Newport Borough. Police said the fire was reported around 3:30 a.m. in the 100 block of North Front Street. The Troop H Fire Marshal Unit is assisting with the investigation, along with multiple area fire departments. Anyone with information or security camera footage related to the fire is asked to contact the Pennsylvania State Police at Newport at (717) 567-3110.

Charges pending against area man for theft, drugs LEWISTOWN — Charges are pending against Levi T. Ryder, 30, address unknown, after Lewistown Police Department officers located him wearing a stolen pair of shoes and later found drug paraphernalia in his backpack. Police were called at 2:48 p.m. June 25 to the laundry facility at 205 S. Main St. for a theft suspect. A day earlier, a white male had reportedly taken $120 shoes from a porch on Marble Street.
