PHILADELPHIA (AP) — One man was killed and eight other people were wounded at an outdoor gathering on a west Philadelphia street almost exactly two days after an earlier homicide on the same block, police said. Officers called to the scene shortly after 1:30 a.m. Saturday found a large crowd of people outside and multiple shooting victims. Union for Philadelphia Orchestra musicians OK strike if talks break

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) — Musicians authorized a strike against the Philadelphia Orchestra if bargaining breaks down for an agreement to replace the four-year deal that expires on Sept. 10. Local 77 of the American Federation of Musicians said Sunday that 95% of voting members approved the strike authorization a day earlier. In addition to an agreement on compensation and benefits, the union said it wants 15 vacant positions filled. Police kill a burglary suspect in Lancaster after officers say he pointed a gun at them

LANCASTER (AP) — A burglary suspect was shot and killed by police in the city of Lancaster after the officers say he pointed a gun at them while coming out of an unoccupied residence. A police statement said the officers responded to a report of a burglary in progress at the home early Sunday shortly after midnight. Officials approve settlement that leveled home, injured 5

PITTSBURGH (AP) — The Public Utility Commission has approved a revised settlement totaling nearly $1 million with a gas utility over a 2019 explosion in western Pennsylvania that reduced a home to rubble and injured five people. Canonsburg-based Columbia Gas took responsibility for the July 2019 blast in North Franklin Township, saying it had failed to install a key piece of equipment in the home while workers nearby upgraded a gas main.
