Pennsylvania to offer weekly COVID-19 testing for schools

Pennsylvania will offer voluntary COVID-19 testing in K-12 schools, state health and education officials announced Monday, promoting the effort as a way to keep the doors open for in-person learning amid a statewide resurgence of the coronavirus. Ex-hospital worker gets jail time in hidden camera case

PITTSBURGH (AP) — A former employee of a western Pennsylvania hospital accused of secretly filming patients and co-workers in a bathroom has been sentenced to 11 to 22 months in jail. An Allegheny County judge also ordered Guy Caley, 53, of Canonsburg on Monday to spend 10 years on probation and to register as a sex offender for 15 years after his release. The former West Penn Hospital medical technician pleaded guilty in May to 89 felony and misdemeanor counts of intercepting communications and invasion of privacy. Philly: Colleges, health care workers must get vaccine

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Philadelphia health care workers, college students and higher education employees will be required to be vaccinated by mid-October under new mandates announced by the city’s Public Health Department Friday. The mandates were passed Thursday night by the Board of Health, which provides guidance to the city’s health department, said acting Public Health Commissioner Cheryl Bettigole. Court tosses ruling against Pa. virus measures

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A federal appeals court has dismissed a judge’s ruling that threw out Gov. Tom Wolf’s sweeping COVID-19 restrictions, saying the case is now moot because statewide mitigation measures have expired and Pennsylvania voters have since constrained a governor’s emergency powers. PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The Philadelphia District Attorney’s office is asking that the city’s police department be held in contempt of court for failing to turn over information related to officers’ misconduct and disciplinary histories.
