Scouts’ grand slam breakfast should be a hit on Saturday

LEWISTOWN — There’s nothing quite like waking up on a Saturday morning and feasting on a breakfast with pancakes, scrambled eggs and sausage.
Unless it’s the Boy Scout Troop 4’s grand slam breakfast, which also includes coffee and orange juice.
Held at the Lewistown Presbyterian Church, 17 E. Third St., Lewistown,, from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday, the cost is $10 for adults, $8 for ages 8 to 10 and free for children under 5 with a paying adult. Tickets will be available at the door.

The Beavertown Historical Society Museum will be open the following Sundays, March 22, April 12 and 26, and May 3, 17 and 25 from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Beavertown Borough building, 111 W. World Down Syndrome Day 5K
Juniata Christian School, 289 Leonard Hill Road, McAlisterville, will host its Sixth Annual World Down Syndrome Day 5K Run/Walk on Saturday. Registration opens at 9 a.m. with a kids fun run beginning at 9:30 a.m. and the race at 10 a.m. and. Pre- registration is not required. There will be drinks and snacks for purchase. Jared Box Project Toy Drive and Packing event
The first Jared Box Packing Event is slated for noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Juniata County Library, 498 Jefferson St., Mifflintown. Boxers are being donated to Jared Boxes to Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Here’s what to expect:
• Drop off new toy donations (ages 1-3)
• Help pack and decorate Jared Boxes
• Write encouraging notes to include inside
• Connect with others who care about supporting local families
Each box becomes a moment of comfort for a child during a hospital stay — something small that can make a big difference.
Can’t attend? Make a donation. Suggested toy donations include: stacking blocks, bath toys, stuffed animals, small musical toys, plastic cars and trucks, puppets, coloring books, balls, picture flashcards, soft dolls and farm animal sets. New items only. No food or choking hazards. No glass, bubbles, or holiday items. All items must fit inside a plastic shoe box.
