Lewistown Police looking for truck

involved in hit-and-run incident

LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers are investigating a hit-and-run incident at the Giant Food Store, 200 S. Dorcas St., Lewistown, at 9:12 a.m. on March 17, according to a release issued on Thursday. The report said officers received a complaint of a parked vehicle that was struck and damaged while the owner was inside Giant shopping, and a witness reported that a truck backed into the parked vehicle and left. Officers reviewed video which showed a 2014-15 maroon Chevrolet Silverado that had black plastic around the fenders, the report said, and the driver of the truck backed into the parked vehicle with enough force that the parked vehicle rocked back. Officers observed video of the driver but were unable to identify the subject, the report said, and the public is asked to contact police with any information at (717) 248-6716.

Police investigate someone

siphoning gas on Lombardy Circle

LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers are investigating a complaint from the 200 block of Lombardy Circle in Lewistown of someone siphoning gasoline from vehicles parked in the area, according to a release issued on Thursday. The incident is believed to have occurred sometime after 11 p.m. on March 12, and was reported at 11 a.m. on March 13, the report said. The resident smelled gasoline, observed the gas door partly open and there was gasoline spilled down the side of the vehicle. Area man charged with possession

of marijuana, public drunkenness

LEWISTOWN — Michael L. Karschner, 43, address unknown, was charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and public drunkenness by the Lewistown Police Department after officers found him passed out at a table at the Burger King, located at 133 S. Main St., Lewistown, at 1:22 p.m. on March 13, according to a release issued on Thursday. Karschner, who was unable to respond to officers and began falling off the table, had a burnt smell of marijuana coming from him, the report said, and officers located a marijuana cigarette in his possession. EMS was summoned and Karschner was transported to the hospital to be medically evaluated, the report said.

Juvenile charged with simple assault; other charges pending

LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers are investigating an assault that took place at the Giant Food Store, 200 S. Dorcas St., Lewistown, at 7:13 p.m. on March 13, according to a release issued on Thursday. The report said a 41-year-old Lewistown father, who was not identified, engaged in a road rage incident with another driver that started in Centre County, and the father pulled into the Giant Food Store, where cameras covered the parking lot, and exited his vehicle as the victim in this incident pulled in behind the father’s vehicle. The father confronted the victim and began walking away, the report said, and the father’s 17-year-old son then sucker punched the victim knocking him back. The juvenile pursued the victim and they exchanged punches before falling to the ground, the report said, and the father and his other son, age 23, separated the two fighting on the ground. The report said the victim tried to get up and was tackled by the 23-year-old, and a review of video did not show what happened at this time but the 23-year-old was observed walking back into camera view as the other driver’s feet remained in a lying position on the ground. The report said the father took a photo of the victim lying on the pavement and photographed the victim’s vehicle, and the victim was transported by EMS to the hospital where medical results indicated the victim sustained a compound fracture of his ankle, lacerations and bruises. The father left the scene and then called to notify the police, the report said, and the juvenile had a bruise to his forehead, an abrasion on his elbow, and refused medical treatment. Police said the case was referred to the district attorney to determine who should be charged and what charges were appropriate given everyone’s involvement, and the 17-year-old juvenile is being charged with simple assault.

Police cite juvenile for disorderly conduct for egging residence

LEWISTOWN — A 17-year-old juvenile was cited for disorderly conduct after Lewistown Police Department officers received a report from the 300 block of South Main Street in Lewistown that eggs were thrown at a residence at 8:06 p.m. on March 14, according to a release issued on Thursday. Officers were unable to initially locate the juvenile, the report said, and officers observed several broken eggs in front of the residence.

Mifflin man jailed after simple

assault-domestic related charge

LEWISTOWN — Jose Y. Torres-Santiago, 26, of Mifflin, was charged with simple assault-domestic related and lodged in the Mifflin County Correctional Facility in Lewistown after an incident at 7:18 p.m. on March 17, according to a release issued on Thursday. Officers responded to the apartment complex at 20 S. Main St. in Lewistown for a report of male who kept yelling “police” and was crying, the report said, and officers located a male with a laceration above his upper lip. He had blood on his mouth and shirt, the report said, and officers discovered that the victim was punched by Torres-Santiago, who was identified as his brother, for allegedly disrespecting their mother.
