Lewistown man charged with terroristic threats, strangulation, abusing 911
LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers were dispatched to the 200 block of West Market Street in Lewistown at 1:39 a.m. on Feb. 28 after a male called 911 yelling that he was not the bad guy, according to a release issued on Friday. Officers identified the subject as Larry Anderson, 45, of Lewistown, from similar recent incident and responded to his address, the report said, and officers had contact with a female who reported that Anderson assaulted her. The subject reported Anderson was saying slurs about the subject’s appearance and said that he threatened to kill her if she did not “shut up,” the report said, and Anderson grabbed the female from behind and wrapped his arm around her neck squeezing until the female could no longer breathe. Officers observed scratches on Anderson’s hands from where the female was scratching him trying to get him to release her, the report said, and Anderson was intoxicated. Anderson was taken into custody for domestic assault and charged with strangulation, terroristic threat, simple assault and abusing the 911 communications systems, the report said.
Area man charged with theft
and receiving stolen property
LEWISTOWN — A 38-year-old area man was charged with theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property after an incident at Shelter Services, located at 13 Depot St. in Lewistown, according to a release issued by the Lewistown Police Department on Friday. Officers were dispatched to Shelter Services at 10:08 a.m. on Feb. 28 when staff and a resident discovered that Bradley J. Herbster grabbed a cell phone and ear buds from a table that belonged to another resident, the report said, and officers were at Shelter Services the night prior for a disturbance caused by Herbster. Herbster was involved in an argument with staff and was told to leave, the report said, and Herbster stole the items before departing the facility. Police reviewed surveillance cameras which showed Herbster removing the items prior to his departure, the report said, and charges for theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property were filed.
York man cited for public drunkenness
after interfering with EMS personnel
LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers responded to the 100 block of South Walnut Street in Lewistown to assist emergency medical services personnel at 10:58 p.m. on Feb. 28, according to a report issued on Friday. Christobal J. Gonzalez Jr., 53, of York, was highly intoxicated and interfering with EMS who were trying to care for a patient, the report said, and officers arrested Gonzalez for public drunkenness. He provided a preliminary breath test that was nearly four times the legal driving limit and jail staff refused to admit him until he was medically cleared, the report said, and officers had Gonzalez medically cleared and he was admitted into the Mifflin County Correctional Facility in Lewistown. He was cited for public drunkenness, the report said.

LEWISTOWN — Kevin L. Greninger, 43, of Lewistown, was charged with public drunkenness and lodged in the Mifflin County Correctional Facility in Lewistown after a domestic dispute, according to a release issued by the Lewistown Police Department on Friday. At 11:04 p.m. on Feb. 28, officers were dispatched to the first block of Central Avenue for a dispute as Greninger allegedly made threatening remarks before leaving the residence just prior to police arriving, the report said, and officers located Greninger in a rear alley carrying a case of beer and drinking from an open container of beer. Greninger was visibly intoxicated and unsteady on his feet, the report said, and he was lodged in the Mifflin County Correctional Facility in Lewistown and charged with public drunkenness.

possession of controlled substances
LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers passed a vehicle on Chestnut Street in Lewistown at 2:20 p.m. on March 2 that was associated with several recent drug related incidents and two occupants, according to a release issued on Friday. Officers observed the vehicle pull into the parking lot of the Nittany Minit Mart, 403 E. Walnut St., Lewistown, and recognized the passenger as Brett J. Pickrell, 36, of Lewistown, the report said, and Pickrell walked across the street and entered his residence while officers checked and confirmed that he had an active warrant. Officers made contact with someone at his residence who summoned Pickrell. Pickrell exited the residence and was taken into custody, the report said, and a search incident to his arrest revealed methamphetamine and cocaine in his pockets as well as a drug pipe. A resident gave consent to search the residence and officers located a bag of marijuana inside, the report said, and Pickrell was charged with possession of controlled substances and he was lodged in Mifflin County Correctional Facility in Lewistown on his warrant.

cited for disorderly conduct
LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers received a complaint about two subjects walking on Forsythe Street in Lewistown when a vehicle driven by Janay K. Clokey, 36, of Lewistown, drove past them at 2:41 p.m. on March 5, according to a release issued on Friday. They observed a juvenile female in the passenger seat whom the subjects had issues with previously, the report said, and the prior harassment escalated to the point where they sent the juvenile through certified mail a no-contact letter provided by the department. These letters are warnings prohibited contact from other parties both in person and through electronic means, the report said, and when the two pedestrians saw the juvenile, who also made eye contact with the pedestrians and slowed their vehicle, they tried to walk up a driveway to avoid contact. The juvenile’s mother circled back and drove into the driveway so the juvenile could yell obscenities at the two pedestrians, the report said, and officers spoke with the juvenile and Clokey who both reported seeing the pedestrians and they reported they kept driving and never attempted to make contact. Officers reviewed security footage from the new police station which contradicted Clokey’s statement and showed her circling the area and approaching the pedestrians, the report said, and Clokey and the juvenile were cited for disorderly conduct.

in locating wanted area man
LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers are investigating an incident involving Christopher Gahagan Sr., of address unknown, and anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call (717) 248-6716 or (717) 248-9607. At 6:15 p.m. on March 5, officers responded to Catherine Street for a report of felony criminal trespassing, according to a release issued on Friday. The resident reported that Gahagan climbed onto the resident’s back porch and onto their balcony, the report said, and Gahagan kicked in the door from the balcony and entered into the residence. The resident saw Gahagan and called 911 at which point Gahagan left the residence and fled the area towards the rear, the report said, and the resident said Gahagan had been allowed to sleep on a couch in the residence but the caller ended this when Gahagan stole items from the residence to sell. Officers noted damage to the door with an estimated loss of at least $500, the report said, and officers searched the area and were unable to locate Gahagan. The resident reported that Gahagan called after officers left, questioning the resident why they called the police, the report said, and it was alleged that Gahagan threatened to harm the resident for doing so. Officers obtained a felony arrest warrant for Gahagan charging him with criminal trespass and criminal mischief. The report said.

investigating theft of cell phone
LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers received a theft complaint on Chestnut Street in Lewistown after a resident reported that an associate left their residence and took the resident’s iPhone 17 on March 4, according to a release issued on Friday. The resident received information that the theft suspect turned the cell phone into a phone kiosk at Walmart, the report said, and officers contacted the company which operates the kiosk. Officers retrieved the stolen phone that had been factory reset and valued at $1,000, the report said, and the resident also reported that two PS5 video games were stolen that were valued at $140. Officers are waiting on information from the phone kiosk to positively identify the suspect prior to filing charges, the report said.
