Harry G. Norton
Harry G. Norton, Sr., 85, of Lewistown, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 2, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on Feb. 8, 1941, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Zane and Dorothy Mae (Shirey) Norton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary (Tate) Norton, on Jan. 19, 2026; a cherished grandson, Matthew Nady; his brother, Charles Norton; and his sister, Nancy Hosler.
Harry leaves behind his family who will forever treasure his memory: his children, Bonnie Guidry of Texas, Pamela Curry of State College, Kim Sheaffer and her husband Gary of Lemoyne, and Harry “Scooter” Norton, Jr., of Lewistown; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and his sister, Linda Barr and her husband Roger, of Lewistown.
A proud 1959 graduate of Lewistown High School, Harry dedicated 54 years of service to Standard Steel, where he retired after a distinguished career. As a supervisor in Machine Shop 1, he was known for his steadfast work ethic, natural leadership, and the deep respect he earned from colleagues and friends alike. He also served faithfully as an officer and treasurer for the United Steelworkers, advocating for those he worked beside.
Earlier in life, Harry enjoyed playing in the Mifflin County Softball League and spending time on the golf course. He was a passionate fan of Penn State wrestling and football, and a loyal supporter of the Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns.
Family and friends are invited to a funeral service at noon on Friday, March 6, 2026, at King-Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown. A viewing will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Private interment will take place at Juniata Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Harry’s memory may be made to Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 8th Avenue, 16th Floor, New York, NY 10001.
