Derry Township sets burn ban
Supervisors approve agreement for electric services
LEWISTOWN — Derry Township Supervisors issue a burn ban effective immediately per the fire chief request due to the recent drought concerns during the board’s meeting on Monday.
In other news, the board approved an agreement with Kuharchik Construction to provide highway lighting maintenance.
The suggestion to switch suppliers came from Township Manager Kelly Shutes, who said the current provider, Lepley Electric, has not properly been maintaining lights.
Supervisors also approved a proposal from TWG Security to replace aging security servers and software in the amount of $32,905.63.
Supervisors also approved to transfer $200,000 from the township’s payroll account to a higher-interest money market account.
Supervisors discussed a complaint they received regarding the Standard Steel trucks depositing dirt and mud on township roads.
After the roadmaster investigated the area that the complaint mentioned he determined it is Burnham Borough and suggested Supervisors inform both Burnham Borough and the Standard Steel of the complaint.
Township Manager Kelly Shutes will send them letters regarding this matter.
