Granville Township man charged with possession of controlled substances

LEWISTOWN — A 46-year-old Granville Township man is being charged with possession of controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia after being stopped by Lewistown Police Department officers at 1:44 a.m. on Feb. 13, according to a release issued on Friday. Officers stopped a vehicle for a lighting violation on Washington Avenue at Route 22 in Lewistown, the report said, and the driver was identified as Pete Milligan Jr. While speaking with Milligan, officers observed a glass vial containing methamphetamine in plain view inside the vehicle. Officers asked Milligan to hand over the vial, the report said, and Milligan threw the vial onto the road. Milligan denied consent to search the vehicle and was ordered out of the vehicle so officers could tow it and apply for a search warrant the following day, the report said, and Milligan was uncooperative but eventually did exit the vehicle. After eventually obtaining a search warrant, officers located a large amount of drug paraphernalia including pipes, scales with methamphetamine residue, and other paraphernalia, the report said.

Police investigating hit-and-run crash

on West Third Street in Lewistown

LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers are investigating a hit-and-run crash on the 100 block of West Third Street in Lewistown after receiving a complaint about a vehicle described as a red Dodge Caravan striking another vehicle at 6:13 p.m. on Feb. 13, according to a release issued on Friday. The vehicle kept on traveling westbound towards Sheetz, the report said, and officers were unable to locate the striking vehicle.

New truck driver has trouble making turn onto South Pine Street in Lewistown

LEWISTOWN — At 9:03 a.m. on Feb. 17, Lewistown Police Department officers responded to Shaw Avenue at South Pine Street in Lewistown for a disabled tractor and trailer, according to a release issued on Friday. The driver attempted to turn onto South Pine Street due to construction on Shaw Avenue, the report said, and the driver, who had their CDL for two days, was unable to maneuver the vehicle forward or backward after failing to make the turn. A CDL licensed driver in the area assisted the stuck driver and backed the tractor and trailer from Shaw Avenue to Chestnut Street to Valley Street, the report said.

Granville Township woman charged

with theft at area convenience store

LEWISTOWN — A 54-year-old Granville Township woman was charged with theft by unlawful taking and theft by deception after an incident at 10:47 a.m. on Feb. 17 at the Puff-N-Snuff, located at 129 South Main St. in Lewistown, according to a release issued by the Lewistown Police Department on Friday. Officers responded to the store and the district manager reviewed surveillance cameras, the report said, and a female identified by staff as Kari Sue Coble was seen in the video approaching the register. Coble asked for change for $20 and laid a $20 bill on the counter, the report said, and the employee opened the register and laid bills down on the counter and reached back into the cash register for additional bills. Coble reached down and grabbed the money including the $20 bill she asked change for, the report said, and she left the store. Staff related this was not the first issue with Coble and requested she be trespassed from the store, the report said.

Employee uses company credit card

to purchase tools, sells them online

LEWISTOWN — A business owner on Sunset Road in Lewistown reported to Lewistown Police Department officers that an employee used a company credit card to purchase tools, which they then sold on Facebook and Snapchat, according to a release issued on Friday. At 2:07 p.m. on Feb. 18, the owner called police after confronting the employee and demanding the tools be returned. Charges for theft are pending receipt of credit card statements and other information required to prosecute the case, the report said.
