Police investigating driver who struck Lewistown fire engine

LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers are investigating an incident where a driver admitted to striking a fire engine at 4:55 p.m. on Jan. 30, according to a release issued on Friday. Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Valley Street – to the City Hook and Ladder Fire Co. station – for a report of an intoxicated male striking a fire engine, the report said, volunteers were attempting to back the engine up when a subject driving a SUV tried to drive around the emergency vehicle and struck it. The driver of the SUV caused minor damage to the engine, the report said, personnel on scene provided a description of the vehicle and said that the driver had an odor of alcohol coming from them. Officers located the vehicle attempting to back down an alley to the rear of the building, the report said, and the driver admitted to consuming several beers and being impaired. The driver was taken into custody for driving under the influence and transported to the hospital where a blood draw was obtained, the report said, and charges are pending toxicology results.

Lewistown woman charged with

possession of a controlled substance

LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers were conducting a traffic enforcement detail when they observed a vehicle with a non-functioning headlight on the 100 block of Valley Street in Lewistown at 6:56 p.m. on Jan. 30,, according to a release issued on Friday. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the report said, but the driver did not stop immediately stop. Officers recognized a passenger, Maranda L. Brought, 51, of Lewistown, who had several recent drug-related contacts with the police and was showing indicators of recent drug abuse. Officers spoke with the driver who gave consent to search the vehicle, the report said, and officers found a small baggy of methamphetamine lodged beside the passenger seat. Brought acknowledged that the methamphetamine belonged to her, the report said, and she was charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Charges pending for DUI, drug

paraphernalia against Lewistown man

LEWISTOWN — A 34-year-old Lewistown man is facing charges for driving under the influence and possession of drug paraphernalia after Lewistown Police Department officers observed him traveling on the 1200 block of West Fourth Street with faulty lighting at 9:21 p.m. on Jan. 30, according to a release issued on Friday. Charges for DUI and are pending toxicology reports. Officers stopped the vehicle in the parking lot of Hoss’s Steak and Sea House, 23 Hoss Drive, Lewistown, and noticed a strong odor of burnt marijuana coming from within, the report said, and the driver, James M. Hess Jr. admitted to smoking marijuana recently. Officers located another pipe in the glove box, the report said, and Hess conducted field sobriety tests and showed several indicators of impairment. Hess was taken into custody for driving under the influence, the report said, and he was transported to the hospital for a sample of blood was obtained. Hess was released and charges for DUI and are pending toxicology reports.

Police investigating hit-and-run accident on North Dorcas Street in Lewistown

LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers are investigating a hit-and-run accident where a gold Lexus was struck between 8:30 and 11 a.m. on Jan. 30, while the vehicle was parked on North Dorcas Street near East Third Street in Lewistown, according to a release issued on Friday. The striking vehicle left gray or white paint marks and caused minor damage to the Lexus, the report said, and the operator of the striking vehicle did not notify the owner of the damage.

Lewistown woman charged

with simple assault

LEWISTOWN — Patricia Auker, 45, of Lewistown, was charged with simple assault after Lewistown Police Department officers responded to a domestic dispute on Feeder Avenue in Lewistown at 6:47 p.m. on Feb. 1, according to a release issued on Friday. Both parties were separated and given guidance on how they could reside together without further disputes, the report said, but officers were called back to this residence at 8:11 p.m. A male resident reported that Auker threw a large stand at the male and struck him in the hand causing multiple lacerations and pain in which the caller thought may have broken something in his hand, the report said, and Auker left the residence prior to police arriving. Officers located Auker at a residence on Logan Street, the report said, and officers determined that the relationship between Auker and her roommate did not fit statutory definitions to take Auker into custody.

Lewistown woman charged with

recklessly endangering another person

LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers were dispatched to the 400 block of South Main Street in Lewistown at 10:47 p.m. on Feb. 1 for a report that Debra A. Longkline, 53, Lewistown, was inside a residence smashing things while looking for a cat, according to a release issued on Friday. Officers arrived on scene and observed a vehicle in the area stopped in the middle of the street with someone’s legs hanging out the passenger door while the vehicle was still moving, the report said, and officers turned around to follow the vehicle which travelled northbound going approximately 35 to 40 miles per hour before turning onto Green Avenue. Officers were able to stop the vehicle on Kishacoquillas Street, the report said, and the driver, Longkline, was yelling for the passenger to get out of the car. Officers interviewed both subjects and determined that the passenger, Longkline’s adult child, tried to get into the vehicle on South Main Street, the report said, and before the passenger could get into the vehicle completely, Longkline began driving off. Officers observed a male standing in the middle of the road when they first arrived on scene, the report said, and officers spoke with this male who reported that he tried to pull the passenger out of the vehicle. The male began running along with the car as his body was halfway inside the vehicle but he could not keep up and fell to the ground ripping his jacket and causing minor bleeding to his hands, the report said, and Longkline was charged with recklessly endangering another person and lodged in the Mifflin County Correctional Facility in Lewistown.

Granville Township man cited for

retail theft at convenience store

LEWISTOWN — Dale T. Pratt, 68, of Granville Township, was cited for retail theft after leaving the Sheetz, located at 113 N. Juniata St., Lewitown, without paying for a newspaper or $100 worth of keroscene at 11 p.m. on Feb. 2, according to a release issued by the Lewistown Police Department on Friday. Officers responded after the store requested the male produce identification stating that it is a store policy to require ID for purchases over $100, the report said, and the male refused and left the store without paying for any of the items. Officers ran the registration on the vehicle the driver left in and identified the male subject as Pratt, the report said.

Granville Township woman charged

with indirect criminal contempt

LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers received a complaint that Kelsey N. Stuck, 28, of Granville Township, was communicating with her ex-husband at 9:07 p.m. on Feb. 5, according to a release issued on Friday. There was a protection from abuse order issued by the Mifflin County Court of Common Pleas that prohibited contact from Stuck unless it was relating to their children, the report said, and officers reviewed messages from Stuck where she was arguing with the protected person and stating that his new girlfriend would not be faithful in their relationship. Officers responded to Stuck’s residence in Granville Township, assisted by the Granville Township Police Department, and took Stuck into custody without incident, the report said, and Stuck was lodged in the Mifflin County Correctional Facility in Lewistown and charged with indirect criminal contempt.
