Lewistown man lodged in jail on warrant
LEWISTOWN — Deyson C. Pozzuto, 28, of Lewistown, was arrested and transported to the Mifflin County Correctional Facility in Lewistown at 11:22 p.m. on Jan. 23 after being observed by Lewistown Police Department officers traveling on the 1,200 block of West Fourth Street in Lewistown, according to a release issued on Friday. Officers were aware that Pozzuto had an active warrant through domestic relations and pulled out to stop him; however, Pozzuto accelerated up to the 1,000 block of West Fifth Street where he quickly parked, turned his lights off, exited his vehicle and began looking around the front of his vehicle, the report said. Officers took Pozzuto into custody for his warrant, the report said, and Pozzuto had a suspended license and was issued a citation for driving under suspension.
Lewistown police investigating
counterfeit bill
LEWISTOWN – Lewistown Police Department officers are investigating a counterfeit $100 bill that was passed at the Dollar General, located at 118 N. Juniata St., Lewistown, at 9:33 a.m. on Jan. 26, according to a release issued on Friday. Officers spoke with a female who claimed she got the bill from a bank after exchanging bills then said that the bill may have come from a skills machine, the report said.
Lewistown police investigating debit card use by ex-girlfriend
LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers are investigating the access device fraud, pending bank records being provided to the investigating officer, after receiving a complaint that a resident’s ex-girlfriend has been using their debit card for an extended period of time without permission on 12:57 a.m. on Jan. 28, according to a release issued on Friday. The ex-girlfriend, who admitted to using the card, reported that there was nothing the resident could do, the report said.
Police warn solicitors to cease going door-to-door for business
LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers received a complaint about two males going door-to-door soliciting business for a power company at 4 p.m. on Jan. 28, according to a release issued on Friday. Officers located one male who claimed they came to Lewistown by Uber to solicit business, the report said, and the subject was warned to cease further activity without having a transient business permit issued by the Lewistown Borough.
Police investigate hit-and-run
LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers received a complaint of a hit-and-run on Chestnut Street Extended in Lewistown at 7:44 a.m. on Jan. 29, according to a release issued on Friday. Officers were tied up with another incident and the caller left for work prior to police responding to the scene, the report said, and officers later spoke with the caller who indicated that their vehicle was possibly struck by a red vehicle between 6:15 and 7:21 a.m. on Jan. 29. This case is under further investigation and pending receiving surveillance from the housing authority property, the report said.
Lewistown man charged with simple assault and harassment
LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers were notified by a Mifflin County Regional Police School Resource Officer that a student arrived at Mifflin County High School with a bruised eye at 11:55 a.m. on Jan. 29, according to a release issued on Friday. Officers responded to the high school and spoke with the student who related that their father, Robert D. Peachey, 44, of Lewistown, punched the student in the eye on Chestnut Street the night prior, the report said, and the student related that their father frequently abuses them. Officers noted that the student’s eye was bruised and partially swollen shut, the report said, and Peachey arrived at the school to pick up the student. Peachey was interviewed and did not admit to striking his child, the report said, and Peachey was taken into custody without incident and charged with simple assault and harassment. Peachey was lodged in Mifflin County Correctional Facility in Lewistown, pending arraignment, the report said.
Lewistown man wanted on warrant, charged with evading arrest
LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers were conducting traffic enforcement in the area of South and East Walnut streets in Lewistown when they observed Nicholas L. Phillips, 37, of Lewistown, ride past at 9:41 p.m. on Jan. 29, according to a release issued on Friday. Phillips had an active arrest warrant for misdemeanor offenses, the report said, and officers tried to stop Phillips and were assisted by the Mifflin County Regional Police Department, who were passing by. Phillips refused to pull over for officers’ lights and sirens, the report said, and officers were able to position their vehicles in a manner that forced Phillips to stop on the 200 block of Shaw Avenue in Lewistown. Phillips initially denied being Nicholas Phillips and then claimed he did not hear the sirens due to ear buds in his ears, the report said, and Phillips was taken into custody on his warrant and lodged in Mifflin County Correctional Facility in Lewistown. He is being charged with evading arrest or detention on foot, the report said.
