From pet food donation drives and indoor yard sales to Ice Cream Day to Valentine makers, there’s something for everyone going on this weekend.
Check out these activities in the Juniata River Valley:
Pet food donation drive
The City Hook and Ladder Fire Co. No. 14, located at 317 Valley St., Lewistown, is hosting a pet food donation drive from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday. They hope you will help some furry friends by donating dog and cat food. All donations benefit Rescue Our Furry Friends, which helps pets in need.
Indoor yard sale

In the shopping mood, stop by the indoor yard sale at Christ’s United Lutheran Church, 13765 Old Turnpike Road, Millmont, from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. They expect to have clothing bargains, furniture, glassware and all kinds of items. Food, refreshments and quarts of soup will be sold. Proceeds benefit Christ’s United Sunday School and other ministries.
Ice Cream for Breakfast Day
The Juniata County Library, 498 Jefferson St., Mifflintown, is celebrating Ice Cream for Breakfast Day from 11 a.m. to noon on Saturday. There will be an ice cream sundae bar, crafts and plenty of other fun activities for kids ages 3 to 12. Registration required.

Be a Valentine maker!
Spread the love this Valentine’s Day by making or delivering Valentine’s to those who need a little extra joy, especially in nursing homes and assisted living communities. Helping Hands of Juniata County is is looking for Valentine Makers all kids, families, classrooms, and crafty hearts. Drop off locations include: McLaughlin Pharmacy, 122 Carriage Lane, Mifflintown; Sal’s OIP, 31 Main St., McAlisterville;
Schlegel’s Grocery and Hardware, 24015 Route 333, Thompsontown; and Helping Hands of Juniata County, 4277 William Penn Highway, Mifflintown. Valentine’s can be store bought or homemade, as long as they are made with lots of love. The mission is simple: Share love and kindness by delivering Valentines.
