Connecting to Kindergarten
scheduled in Juniata County
MIFFLINTOWN — For a 5-year-old, the world is full of big moments — the first lost tooth, the first bike ride without training wheels, the first time they realize glue sticks are not, in fact, snacks. But few milestones feel quite as enormous as the first day of kindergarten. It’s the moment backpacks suddenly look too big, school hallways look too long and parents wonder how time moved this fast.
The Juniata County School District knows just how emotional that leap can be, which is why it’s rolling out the welcome mat early with its annual Connecting to Kindergarten events — two evenings designed to help future kindergarteners (and their grown-ups) get comfortable, confident and maybe even a little excited about the adventure ahead.
Families with children entering kindergarten in the 2026-27 school year are invited to attend one of the district’s spring sessions:
• Juniata Elementary School, 75 S. Seventh St., Mifflintown — 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, March 17;
• East Juniata Elementary School, 54 Main St., Richfield — 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, March 24.
For questions about the event, families may contact Imes at jimes@jcsdk12.org or Renee Freed, Early Childhood Services, at 717-436-2405 ext. 2025 or rlfreed@tiu11.org.
