Lewistown man charged with

retail theft at convenience store

LEWISTOWN — A 33-year-old Lewistown man has been charged with retail theft after he was observed placing several packages of Kratom in his coat pocket at 11:26 a.m. on Jan. 3 at the Puff-N-Snuff, located at 910 W. Fourth St., Lewistown, according to a release issued by the Lewistown Police Department on Friday. Austin J. Scheffel paid for one item and left without paying for the rest of the merchandise, the report said, and surveillance footage captured him of taking merchandise valued at $455.62.

Lewistown woman charged with

making terroristic threats, assault

LEWISTOWN — Brittany M. Kirk, 25, of Lewistown, is being charged with terroristic threats, simple assault by physical menace, harassment and disorderly conduct after an incident involving two other women at 6:44 p.m. on Jan. 3, according to a release issued on Friday. One of the other subjects told Lewistown Police Department officers they went to Kirk’s residence on West Sixth Street to return a cell phone, the report said, and when the subject’s arrived, Kirk exited the residence and charged them while brandishing a kitchen knife. Officers talked to Kirk, who said she was defending herself and that she has anger problems, the report said, and Kirk could not say how she felt threatened and could not elaborate why she did not call the police if she felt threatened. Officers informed Kirk that she was being charged criminally, the report said, and, after clearing the scene, the original victim called stating that Kirk was making threats to come to the victim’s house to stab her.

Lewistown woman charged with

possessing controlled substance

LEWISTOWN — Jessica L. Hamby, 48, of Lewistown, was observed walking on the 100 block of Logan Street in Lewistown by Lewistown Police Department officers at 11:18 a.m. on Jan. 5, according to a release issued on Friday. Officers were aware that Hamby had a warrant and she was taken into custody, the report said. Hamby was warned that she was going to the Mifflin County Correctional Facility in Lewistown and that taking any contraband inside would result in felony charges, the report said, and Hamby denied possessing any contraband. Upon arrival, Hamby was about to enter the secured portion of the jail facility when she informed staff that she had contraband concealed inside her bra, the report said, and Hamby was found to possess a baggy of methamphetamine and was charged with possessing a controlled substance.

Decatur Township man taken into

custody for warrant at hearing

LEWISTOWN — Kolby D. Nace, 34, of Decatur Township, was attending a preliminary hearing at Magisterial District Court No. 58-3-01 at 2:48 p.m. on Jan. 6 when it was discovered he had an active warrant, according to a release issued by the Lewistown Police Department on Friday. The warrant was from domestic relations and Nace was taken into custody following the hearing on the active warrant, the report said.

Lewistown woman charged with theft by unlawful taking, theft from motor vehicle

LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers received a theft complaint from a subject on the first block of Valley Street in Lewistown at 5:58 p.m. on Jan. 7, according to a release issued on Friday. A male resident was invited over to the residence of Nakisha Wilson, 37, of Lewistown. The male was previously in a relationship with Wilson, the report said, and, when he arrived, Wilson ran outside and jumped into the subject’s vehicle. Wilson stole a pack of cigarettes and $23 cash and then fled back into her residence, the report said. Officers knocked on her door however she refused to answer and speak with officers, the report said, and Wilson is being charged with theft by unlawful taking and theft from motor vehicle.

Lewistown woman charged with

possession of drug paraphernalia

LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers responded to the Mifflin County Courthouse in Lewistown for a report of a female in possession of drug paraphernalia at 1:49 p.m. on Jan. 8, according to a release issued on Friday. Officers were summoned by sheriff’s deputies, who observed a drug pipe inside a purse that went through the scanners at the entrance, the report said, and officers spoke with Donna M. Dunkelberger, 62, of Lewistown, who possessed the purse. Dunkelberger denied that the pipe belonged to her and she said she was lent the purse by someone else, the report said, and she was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
