York juvenile charged multiple times
for pair of incidents in Lewistown
LEWISTOWN — A 14-year-old juvenile male who was visiting family from York was charged multiple times after a pair of incidents on Dec. 27 and Dec. 29 in the Lewistown area, according to a release issued by the Lewistown Police Department on Friday. At 12:39 p.m. on Dec. 27, Lewistown Police Department officers received a call about a motor vehicle theft on the 100 block of South Walnut Street, the report said, as a resident noticed that someone stole their wallet and credit cards from inside the vehicle. Using surveillance footage and credit card transactions, they were able to track down the juvenile who had made an unauthorized purchase at Domino’s Pizza, which was delivered to the 300 block of Logan Street. The wallet was returned and the juvenile was charged with theft from motor vehicle and access device fraud. At 5:44 a.m. on Dec. 29, officers received another report of theft from a motor vehicle as someone entered a parked vehicle on Locust Street near Logan Street, the report said, and the suspect broke an interior camera inside the vehicle and stole two credit cards. On Dec. 30, went to a residence on Locust Street and found out that the same juvenile had possession of the stolen credit cards and was responsible for the theft. The juvenile was charged with criminal mischief in addition to charges filed under the other incident.
Wind gusts blow shed onto
Chestnut Street; two vehicles damaged
LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers were dispatched to the first block of Chestnut Street in Lewistown at 12:10 p.m. on Dec. 29 for a report of a shed that was blown onto the roadway due to strong gusts of wind occurring in the area, according to a release issued on Friday. The shed blew onto the roadway and struck two parked vehicles causing damage, the report said, and the Lewistown Fire Department responded to remove the shed from the vehicles. A tow truck was summoned to remove the shed, which was blocking roadway, the report said.
Charges filed against Lewistown woman for defiant trespassing, resisting arrest
LEWISTOWN — A 39-year-old Lewistown woman is facing charges for resisting arrest and defiant trespassing after an incident on the 600 block of West Fifth Street in Lewistown at 3:46 p.m. on Dec. 30, according to a release issued by the Lewistown Police Department on Friday. Officers responded to the scene for a domestic dispute and returned an hour later after a report that Brendaliz Diaz Ramos refused to leave the residence, the report said. Ramos lived elsewhere on West Fifth Street and began to damage belongings and appliances inside the residence, the report said. Ramos was bleeding from a cut on her hand when officers arrived which was caused by her punching objects, the report said, and she refused to leave when ordered to do so by officers and went back into the residence. Officers placed Ramos in custody, but she began concealing her arms from officers and tried to grab an officer’s hands while the officer was grabbing Ramos trying to secure her in handcuffs, the report said. Ramos was shouting repeatedly and was not cooperative getting into the patrol vehicle and refused to be cleared medically, the report said, as she had swelling on her arm which was caused by an object she struck. Officers transported Ramos to the hospital and charged her for resisting arrest and defiant trespassing, the report said.
Lewistown man charged with criminal trespass, escape after break-in
LEWISTOWN — A 34-year-old Lewistown man is facing charges for criminal trespass and escape after breaking into a residence on the 500 block of Lindbergh Way in Lewistown at 5:25 a.m. on Dec. 31, according to a release issued by the Lewistown Police Department on Friday. Officers were dispatched to Lindbergh Way for an subject who broke into the residence and was sleeping on a chair in the living room, the report said, as the subject — unknown to the resident — knocked on the door then proceeded to kick in the door and enter. Officers found Timothy Laws sitting on a couch, without shoes or a shirt on, next to an elderly resident, the report said, and Laws just said repeatedly, “Please take me away” and uttering other nonsense. Laws resides a few houses down from where he broke into, the report said, and he was taken into custody. Officers handcuffed Laws and placed him in a patrol vehicle, the report said, and he began complaining that he was bleeding. Police said Laws had moved his hands to his front and removed a seat belt, the report said, making it possible for him to push his way past an officer. The officers tasered Laws a total of three times to keep him under control and transport him by EMS to the hospital for treatment, the report said. While there, custody was transferred to Mifflin County Probation who was supervising Laws, the report said, and Laws was charged with criminal trespassing and escape.
Area man charged with possession
of a controlled substance
LEWISTOWN — Penns C. Rheam, 27, address unknown, was charged with possession of a controlled substance by the Lewistown Police Department after officers found him passed out in a vehicle on the 100 block of Church Lane at 9:38 a.m. on Dec. 31, according to a release issused on Friday. Officers woke up Rheam, who stated he was waiting on a friend, the report said, and officers observed several large knives on his lap and by his feet. Rheam was trying to hide a large bulge in his coat pocket, the report said, and he was questioned about it and handed the officer an item that contained several syringes, cocaine, methamphetamine and prescription medication.
