Juniata County Commissioners approve agenda items

MIFFLINTOWN — Juniata County Commissioners met Tuesday to vote on the following items.

The commissioners:

• Approved payment of a Juniata County Hazardous Material check in the amount of $22.28;

• Approved Lydia Grace Goodling as an unpaid intern in the Juniata County Children and Youth Department as requested by Ashley Baxter, Juniata County Children & Youth director. If approved, Ms. Goodling will begin her internship Jan. 23, until March 13;

• Approved the 2026 to 2029 professional services agreement between the Juniata County Commissioners on behalf of Juniata County Emergency Agency and MCM Consulting Group, Inc. for services related to maintaining and updating the County’s hazard mitigation plan at a total cost of $33,498.31;

• Approved grant proposals for the Juniata County Prevention Board:

– Children’s Trust Fund Grant to support family programming through Juniata County Children & Youth;

– VIP BOOST grant through the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency to support hiring a director at the Delauter Youth Center.

• Juniata County Commissioners also:

• Approved the tax exonerations for Milford, Fayette, Walker, Delaware, Turbett Townships, Port Royal, and Thompsontown;

• Reviewed the December 2025 disbursement summary report as submitted by Magisterial District Judge Powell’s office;

• Approved the Juniata County Probation Services Grant presented by Michell Beaver, chief probation officer. The grant is for juvenile probation services. The grant period is from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026;

• Approved payment of checks in the amount of $462,641.95.

Commissioners will meet next at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 27, in the Commissioners’ Conference Room located in the Bousum Building, 26 N. Main St., Mifflintown.
