Coat drive extends warmth through Jan. 15
BURNHAM — Pennsylvania Central First Credit Union is once again stepping forward to support neighbors in need.
The Burnham Branch, along with all four of the credit union’s additional locations – which include three in Harrisburg and one in Palmyra – are collecting new or gently used coats through Thursday, Jan. 15 as part of its annual effort to help local families stay warm during the coldest months of the year.
The drive is designed to make giving simple and accessible. Community members can stop by any branch during regular business hours and drop off coats for children or adults. All sizes, styles, and materials are welcomed, reflecting the wide range of needs across the region. The Burnham Branch, located at 101 First Ave., will deliver its collected coats to Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard, where they will be sorted and distributed directly to individuals and families throughout the community.
The partnership between PA Central First Credit Union and Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard has become a reliable source of support during winter, especially for households facing financial strain. Coats donated through the drive often reach people who might otherwise go without adequate outerwear, including children who walk to school, seniors on fixed incomes and families navigating unexpected hardships.
The credit union’s multi-branch participation ensures that the effort stretches across several communities, broadening the impact and encouraging residents from different towns to take part. Each location serves as both a collection point and a reminder that small acts of generosity can add up to meaningful change.
With temperatures dropping and the need for warm clothing rising, the coat drive offers a practical way for residents to help their neighbors. A single donated coat can make a significant difference in someone’s daily comfort and safety during the winter season.
The collection continues through Jan. 15, giving the community ample time to look through closets, gather unused items and contribute to a cause rooted in compassion and local care.
