Library hours for New Year’s week adjusted

LEWISTOWN — All branches of the Mifflin County Library will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 30 and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 31. The library will be closed on Jan. 1, New Year’s Day. Normal hours will resume Jan. 2, 2026.

Driver’s license centers closed for holiday

YEAGERTOWN — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced that all driver license and photo centers, including its full-service center in Harrisburg, will be closed Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026 in observance of the New Year’s holiday.

Customers may still obtain a variety of driver and vehicle products and services, including all forms, publications, and driver training manuals, online through PennDOT’s Driver and Vehicle Services website.

First Night State College scheduled for Dec. 31

STATE COLLEGE — First Night State College will once again provide central Pennsylvania with a way to mark the passing of the old year and the ringing in of the New Year. The alcohol-free community celebration of the visual and performing arts will take place in downtown State College on Dec. 31, 2025.

The official warm up station is in the Woskob Family Gallery, 146 S. Allen St., State College. It will be staffed with volunteers who can answer all your First Night questions from 1:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 31.

Admission to all indoor performances is with the 2025 First Night State College button. Buttons are $15 and can be purchased at the door of events and select downtown businesses. When accompanied by an adult, children 12 and under are free.

First Night relies on volunteers to staff performance venues on Dec. 31. Volunteers should be at least 18 years of age or 16 when accompanied by a parent or guardian.
