Field survey activity for State College Area Connector slated

CLEARFIELD — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has announced that design team personnel will start field surveys and data collection along the Recommended Preferred Alternative of the State College Area Connector Project starting the week of Nov. 17. The information collected will be used to develop a geotechnical drilling program to identify subsurface ground conditions for the design and permitting processes.

While PennDOT does not expect this work to have any significant traffic impacts, it urges drivers to exercise caution as they are likely to encounter crews adjacent to or crossing Route 322 and other local roads where the Recommended Preferred Alternative intersects.

This work does not presently include any ground disturbing or drilling activities. PennDOT expects the survey work to be completed by mid-December and the drilling program to begin early next year. All schedules are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
