Borough announces alley paving completion
LEWISTOWN — The Lewistown Borough Council manager announced the completion of the Borough’s alley paving project on Monday.
Borough Manager Tyler Fink said that paving on South Pine Street alley, the alley between North Pine and North Walnut Street, and Pine Court went smoothly.
Fink shared that the Borough will continue the alley paving project in the spring to address other alleys in disrepair.
“We have money set aside in the budget to continue this on many other alleys in the borough,” Fink said.
Council later added items to the agenda, including creating a handicap spot at 116 S. Spruce Street and suspending parking enforcement from Nov. 24 to Jan. 5, 2026.
The Borough Council agreed to revisit discussion to allow New Life Church to use Fountain Square.
Council will revisit this request at its Nov. 17 meeting at the Lewistown Community Center.
The council members later approved the additional agenda items and voted to revisit approval of the 2026 council meeting calendar for a later time.
In new business, council members:
• Approved to advertise Ordinance 2025-12 related to the Pennsylvania Municipal Retirement System Non-Uniform Retirement Contribution for the employees. This ordinance allows non-uniformed employees, not including police, to voluntarily contribute up to 20% more into their retirement without the Borough matching that contribution;
• Approved to pay $36,625 for Specific Terminal Liability and Aggregate Terminal Liability to Roundstone for insurance-related costs;
• Approved to “Deck the Downtown” with decorations.
