First Bakers UMC to host Bible study

53rd annual Juniata County CROP 5K Hunger Walk/Run
MIFFLINTOWN — The 53rd annual Juniata County CROP 5K Hunger Walk/Run will be held on Sunday, Oct. 12, 2025, at 258 Walker Township Park Ln., Mifflintown. Registration begins at 1:30 p.m. The Walk begins at 2 p.m. The Walk benefits Hunger Ministries globally through Church World Service and locally Meals on Wheels and the Juniata County Food Pantry. Matt Witzel from Merf Radio will provide music. The Juniata County Business and Professional Women along with the Juniata County Dairy Promotion Committee will furnish refreshments. Anyone raising $125 will receive a free CROP Walk t-shirt.

Resurrection OPC extending its ministry
LEWISTOWN — Resurrection Orthodox Presbyterian Church, located in State College, is looking to extend its ministry of Biblical preaching, God-centered worship, and serious Christianity for real life into Lewistown and the surrounding Mifflin and Juniata Counties region. Resurrection is planning a series of opportunities for Lewistown-area believers to participate in Resurrection’s Sunday worship remotely from the Lumina Center in Lewistown (18 E. Third St.) during the months of September, October and November. The goal will be for area Christians who share a common desire to see a faithful church established in Lewistown to meet one another, get a taste of Resurrection’s current local church ministry, and build a shared vision for what a new church planting effort in Lewistown might look like in the near future. Upcoming concert at Grace UMC
LEWISTOWN — The Chi Rho Singers will present a celebration of God’s love through music on behalf of the United Methodist Cluster of Churches in Mifflin County, Thursday, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, 101 Logan St., Lewistown.
This choir of the Susquehanna Conference of the United Methodist Church includes approximately 25 active and retired pastors under the direction of the Reverend James Hollister and the Reverend Richard Smith.
Various styles of sacred music, both contemporary and traditional, will be presented. Several instruments are used for accompanying the choir. At times you will be invited to join the choir in a few selections.
You are invited to hear this choir and celebrate the gifts of God expressed in music. A freewill offering will benefit Matthew 25, a ministry of our churches to support our community when people find themselves in moments of need.
Pine Grove UMC to welcome recording artist Sherry Anne
MIFFLINTOWN — Award-winning recording artist Sherry Anne will visit Mifflintown to be the special guest speaker and singer on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 4:30 p.m. at Pine Grove United Methodist Church, 4633 Cuba Mills Rd., Mifflintown. The program includes a potluck dinner after the program. A Friday, Oct. 24 program at 6:30 p.m. will include a program and service with UMC Mountain Valley Superintendent Rev. Dr. Michelle Bodle. The theme for the weekend programs is “Come Alive Again, Rekindle the Flame of Faith.” The public is welcome. Sunday service is at 11 a.m. The church is handicapped accessible.
A singer, songwriter, and author, Sherry Anne inspires audiences with her personal journey of overcoming obstacles and challenges associated with being born with partial hearing loss that was undiagnosed until age five. As a writer, Sherry Anne’s songs include “Believe,” “Who Do You Say I Am” and “Still the God Who Parts the Sea.”
Gator Wilderness Camp School awareness dinner scheduled
BELLEVILLE — Gator Wilderness Camp School announces its annual Gator Camp awareness dinner to be held at Locust Grove Mennonite Church on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. Gator
Wilderness Camp School is a not-for-profit school for boys, ages 10 years-16 years in southwest Florida.
At Gator Wilderness Camp School, boys focus on building relationships, problem solving and learning
responsibility. This year’s program includes participation by the Micosukees group from Gator Camp.
There is no charge for the dinner, but a free offering will be lifted. All donations go directly to Gator
Wilderness Camp School. Reservations do need to be made no later than Oct. 25, 2025, and can be
