MDJ office lease renewal approved

MIFFLINTOWN — Juniata County Commissioners renewed a lease agreement for Magisterial District Judge Joshua Imes courtroom and office in Port Royal during Tuesday’s board meeting.

Commissioners also took the following action:

Approved a purchase of service agreement between Juniata County Children and Youth Services Agency and Juniata County probation department with Sarah Jefferson to provide child welfare services. The length of the contract is from July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026;

Approve the tax exonerations for Beale Township;

Approve the use of the County Records Improvement Fund to cover the cost of one brother digital color printer at the cost of $569.99 for the Prothonotary’s office;

Approved the September 2025 monthly statistics report as submitted by the Juniata County Children & Youth Services Department;

Approve the hiring of Charles Pensyl III as a casual, part-time employee within the Security Department to provide security services as needed at an hourly wage of $22.41 and a start date of Oct. 29. This position is classified at less than 1,000 hours per year and is not eligible for benefits nor is it part of the County’s Retirement Fund as outlined in the Juniata County employee’s retirement system summary plan.
