Supervisors select alternate CDBG project
LEWISTOWN — Madison Price, a Mifflin County grants liaison, Monday updated the Granville Township Supervisors on the lack of responses to a local survey concerning Junction Fire Co.’s need for new fire safety equipment, which halts the 2025 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) project.
According to Price, a computer system shuffled the names of residents in the Junction Fire Co. service area and sent a survey around mid-August.
SEDA-COG received around 50 responses and needs around 20 more responses to move forward with the project.
Granville Township residents who received a survey in the mail and have not responded may receive a personal visit from a SEDA-COG representative in the next few weeks.
The surveys are confidential and can be dropped off at the Granville Township office or given to the interviewer during the in-person visit.
For those who are not available for in-person visits, a green card will be left at your door, reading “on behalf of Granville Township, Mifflin County is applying for federal funding to replace critical Junction Fire Company Fire Safety Equipment, and we need your help to gather information about residents in the project area.”
Individuals will receive the phone number of Carol High of SEDA-COG to call and take the survey.
In the meantime, Supervisors selected a single-family owner-occupied housing rehabilitation project to move forward with the 2025 CDBG application.
When survey results are complete for the Junction Fire Co. project, Supervisors have the option to request existing CDBG funding from 2022, 2023, and 2024 for the Fire Safety Equipment project.
