Smith boots pair of goals as Tigers fall to West Shore

COCOLAMUS — After winning it’s September opener against Shamokin, the month hasn’t been kind to the East Juniata Tigers. In four contests since that victory, the Tigers have lost each one of them and have been outscored 21-6 in the process.

The Tigers tried as they might but didn’t fare any better against West Shore Christian on Saturday, which was also Homecoming at East Juniata.

Wrett Smith scored a pair of goals and assisted on another, but the East Juniata Tigers dropped a 5-3 non-league decision to visiting West Shore Christian on Saturday.

In addition to Smith’s pair of goals, Jaiden May also found the back of the net for East Juniata, which has dropped four-straight contests.

Smith assisted on May’s goal, while Trent Price also picked up an assist on one of Smith’s scores. In goal, keeper Kelton Bonnell made eight saves for the Tigers.

East Juniata hosts St. Joe’s today.

Mustangs blank

Greenwood

MILLERSTOWN — Second-half goals by Connor Stoltzfus and Wyatt Nelson lifted the Midd-West Mustangs to a 2-0 non-league victory over Greenwood on Saturday.

Abram Sellers set up Stoltzfus to give the Mustangs a 1-0 advantage at the 70:00 mark of the second half. Evan Devine then did the same to Nelson at 78:00 for set the 2-0 final.

Midd-West goaltender Derek Wert had one save as the Mustangs outshot Greenwood 3-2 and led 2-1 in corners.

The Mustangs host Lewisburg on Tuesday.
