Injury sustained in Thompsontown crash

THOMPSONTOWN — On Friday, Sept. 12, officers from Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown responded to a two-vehicle crash on William Penn Highway around 7 a.m.

The report states that 22 year old Abbygail Lukens, of Thompsontown, was traveling East in a 2000 Buick Century going approximately 45 mph on William Penn Highway when she related to officers that she sneezed and lost control of her vehicle striking the guide rail on the right side of the roadway.

The impact with the guide rail caused the vehicle to travel onto the opposite lane of travel where at which time a 2003 Volkswagen Beetle was traveling West on the Highway at 35 mph when Lukens’ vehicle struck the Beetle, before striking a guide rail on the left side of the roadway causing the vehicle to travel across the roadway where it came to final rest in the grass off the road.

The operator of the Beetle, 70-year-old Ethan Good, of Green Lane, turned around and came back to the scene where he waited for the arrival of officers.

The report states Lukens was not wearing a seatbelt and was transported by Port Royal EMS for minor injuries. Good was wearing his seatbelt and remained uninjured.
