Reedsville man jailed for warrant

LEWISTOWN — Nathan W. North, 43, of Reedsville, called the Lewistown Police Department requesting assistance to retrieve personal property from a residence on the 300 block of Valley Street in Lewistown at 7:43 a.m. on Sept. 12, according to a release issued on Friday. Police said North had an arrest warrant from a domestic relations incident, and he was taken into custody and lodged in the Mifflin County Correctional Facility in Lewistown.

Lewistown woman charged with theft

LEWISTOWN — A 32-year-old Lewistown woman was charged with theft by unlawful taking after management at the Puff N’ Snuff on West Fourth Street in Lewistown provided Lewistown Police Department officers with surveillance video showing she removed cash from a register and concealing it at 12 a.m. on Sept. 12. Over four days, Erica Rose took a total of just over $500.00, police said, and also sent text messages to the owner of the business apologizing for stealing.

Lewistown man charged with

possessing firearms when not allowed

LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers responded to the 500 block of Valley Street in Lewistown for a complaint that Charles D. Gutwein, 19, of Lewistown, possessed two handguns at 3:17 p.m. on Sept. 13, according to a release issued on Friday. Gutwein was previously convicted of corruption of minors, which statutorily prohibited him from possessing firearms, the report said. Gutwein handed officers a safe containing two handguns, the report said, and he admitted to purchasing the guns and granted officers permission to search the safe before a search warrant could be obtained. Gutwein’s birth certificate was located inside the safe, the report said, and he was under the supervision of Mifflin County Probation and a detainer was lodged. Gutwein was transported to Mifflin County Correctional Facility in Lewistown and charged with two counts of persons not to possess firearms, the report said.

Lewistown man cited for public

drunkenness, released to friend’s care

LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers received a complaint that Ryan L. Vines, 34, of Lewistown, was causing a disturbance at a residence on the 200 block of West Third Street in Lewistown and that Vines picked up a dog and tossed it aside in an aggressive manner at 9:11 p.m. on Sept. 13, according to a release issued on Friday. Officers located Vines walking in the alley behind the courthouse, the report said, and he was found to be highly intoxicated from consuming alcohol. Vines was cited with public drunkenness and was released to a friend who drove to his location to pick him up, the report said.

Area man cited for underage possession of alcoholic beverages

LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers responded to Sheetz, located at 113 N. Juniata St., Lewistown, for a report that a previous retail theft suspect was at the store at 4:11 a.m. on Sept. 14, according to a release issued on Friday. Officers were told that Blaze A. Jordan, 19, address unknown, returned items that were previously reported as stolen, the report said. Sheetz did not wish to prosecute Jordan for retail theft, the report said, but while officers interacted with him, officers observed Jordan with an open can of alcohol. Jordan said a friend gave him the can and officers noted that half of its contents were gone, the report said, and he was cited for underage possession of alcoholic beverages.

Two teenagers charged

after alleged assault

LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers charged a 16-year-old male juvenile with aggravated assault and simple assault and a 13-year-old female juvenile with simple assault after an incident at Victory Park in Lewistown at 7:54 a.m. on Sept. 14, according to a release issued on Friday. Officers responded to Sheetz, 113 N. Juniata St., Lewistown, for a report of a 19-year-old male who was covered in blood, the report said, and he was reportedly homeless and was in the Victory Park recently. The report said the victim was approached by three subjects, including a 16-year-old male and a 13-year-old female, who began assaulting him by punching him in the face. The victim, who named two subjects involved, was transported to the hospital and the extent of his injuries is currently unknown, the report said. Officers reviewed surveillance images from Sheetz and went to the juveniles’ residences with the assistance of the Mifflin County Regional Police Department, the report said. Officers interviewed the juveniles with their parents present, the report said, and one of the juveniles admitted they assaulted the victim because they heard accusations that the victim raped a girl they knew. The juveniles admitted to punching the victim in the face, kicking his head and kicking his ribs, the report said.

Police receive report of damage for Rec Center concession stand door

LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers received a report of damage to a door of the Rec Center’s youth baseball concession stand at 2:20 p.m. on Sept. 14, according to a release issued on Friday. The damage was believed to have occurred after Sept. 11, the report said, and the estimated cost to repair the damage was $200.
