JCS auction scheduled for Oct. 3, 4
Annual event celebrates 49 years
McALISTERVILLE — The 49th annual Juniata Christian School benefit auction has been scheduled for Oct. 3 and 4 at the Lost Creek Community Park in McAlisterville.
For nearly five decades the sale committee at Juniata Christian School has organized the benefit auction with the help of countless volunteers, staff, students, and parents who give their time and talents to make the event successful.
“The purpose of the Juniata Christian School Benefit Auction is to bring together families, alumni and community members for a fun, family-friendly weekend while raising vital funds to support Christian education at JCS,” shared Andrew Benner, the sale publicity and marketing coordinator. “It’s both a social highlight of the year and a cornerstone fundraiser for the school.”
All proceeds directly support Juniata Christian School. The funds are used to help keep tuition affordable for families, improve school facilities, update classroom resources, and support special projects that benefit the students and staff.
In recent years the money from the auction has funded everything from classroom upgrades, playground improvements, and athletic facilities to technology updates and transportation needs.
The auction items are donated by local businesses, families, alumni, and friends of Juniata Christian School; many handmade and home-crafted items are also created especially for the auction.
Items range from handmade quilts, furniture, and home décor to toys, tools, baked goods, outdoor equipment, trips, and gift certificates. Each year’s selection is unique and offers something for everyone.
The community consistently “rallies around” the auction, according to Benner as families come out to enjoy the food, games, and atmosphere while supporting the cause and alumni often return to reconnect with old friends.
“We hope for strong attendance, generous bidding, and a spirit of fellowship that reminds us all why this tradition has lasted so long,” shared Benner. “More importantly, we hope the funds raised will continue to make a lasting impact on the school and its mission.”
