Parent Night Topic is Student Anxiety and Social Media

MCVEYTOWN — Parents of students in the Mifflin, Juniata, Huntingdon and Fulton counties are invited to attend – either in-person or virtually – an evening of information about how social media affects student anxiety, courtesy of the Tuscarora Intermediate Unit No. 11.

Dr. Bilal Ghandour, professor at Elon University (N.C.) and expert in child and teenage mental health, will share insights, research and practical tips to help parents support their children. The session is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, at the TIU 11 office, located at 2527 Route 522 South in McVeytown.

Ghandour will be speaking virtually, but parents are invited to participate from home or in-person at the TIU office. Community spaghetti supper to benefit family who suffered barn fire

HONEY GROVE — A community spaghetti supper is being held on Friday, Sept. 19, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the South Juniata Baptist Church,

3647 Smokey Hollow Road, Honey Grove, for the Drolsbaugh family. They recently suffered a barn fire. The cost is by donation, and proceeds benefit the family

Rodeo Night at First Baptist Church of Juniata County in Mifflintown

MIFFLINTOWN — First Baptist Church of Juniata County, 23964 Route 35 North, Mifflintown, will host Rodeo Night from 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20. There will be a mechanical bull, bounce house, games, food and fun for all ages. Dust off your boots and round up your friends. This event is rain or shine. Riders must be at least 48 inches tall for the mechanical bull and anyone under 18 needs a waiver signed by a parent.

Paintersville C&MA Church to host

family harvest fest and car show

Paintersville C&MA Church, 3195 Back Maitland Road, Lewistown, is having a Family Harvest Fest and Car Show on Saturday, Sept. 20, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be food and drinks, petting zoo, barrel train rides, obstacle course, games, deejay, emergency apparatus display, conservation district and Greenwood Furnace State Park educators and engine displays.
