‘Game on for a Cure’
Pink Connection to host annual fundraiser
LEWISTOWN — Since 2009 breast cancer survivors and volunteers at Pink Connection have come together creating an event that benefits cancer patients.
Slated for Oct 12 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Lewistown Country Club, this annual fundraiser is “dedicated to celebrating hope, resilience, and the power of community as we come together to make a meaningful impact in the fight against breast cancer,” according to a news release.
The event started as wine tastings at both Seven Mountains Wine Cellars and Brookmere Winery then transitioned into a brunch the past three years with this being the second year at the Country Club.
This year there is a game inspired theme of “Game on for a Cure.” The event will include a meal, signature drink, door prizes, entertainment and trivia. There will also be a 50/50 drawing and raffle baskets.
Tickets are $35 and must be purchased by Oct. 5 by contacting Steph Mowery at (717) 437-5224 or Holly Snook at (717) 994-7288.
“Our hope is that the community becomes aware of the organization, what we do and gains the knowledge we are here and available when someone receives a cancer diagnosis and needs help, understanding and support,” shared Su Salvatore, co-founder of Pink Connection.
The purpose of this event is to raise funds to continue our outreach to cancer patients with all proceeds going towards the Pink Connection outreach.
Pink Connection provides “Bundles of Hope” gift boxes to newly diagnosed breast cancer patients and provides financial assistance in the form of gift cards for food, gas or prescriptions to any cancer patients, not specific to breast cancer, undergoing testing or treatments.
Other outreach include providing resources for breast cancer initiatives through schools and local businesses, doing the “Paint our Town Pink” with pink ribbons each October in downtown Lewistown to spread breast cancer awareness, and donating comfort totes/gifts along with snacks to patients receiving chemotherapy in our local medical facilities.
“The community and local businesses have been extremely supportive of Pink Connection by helping to spread the word of what we do and through generous donations,” explained Salvatore.
Game on for a Cure is open to any person, family member or friend affected by breast cancer or feels strongly about our cause.
