Flagging expected this week along Route 522
From staff reports
LEWISTOWN — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said drivers should expect to encounter flaggers in the roadway along Route 522 at the site of a bridge replacement project in Decatur Township Wednesday through Friday. Replacing the bridge, which spans Jack’s Creek about a mile southwest of Wagner, will enhance the ride quality and improve the structure’s overall condition rating from poor to good.
Flaggers in the roadway will provide traffic control on those days while the contractor completes approach paving through the work zone. The contractor will then transition traffic, which has been using a temporary bridge to pass through the work zone since spring, back onto Route 522. PennDOT urges drivers to stay alert, slow down through the work zone, obey all flaggers and posted signage, and always wear your seatbelt to ensure everyone’s safety.
Work on this project consists of removing the existing bridge, building its replacement, paving, drainage improvements, guide rail installation, pavement marking, and miscellaneous construction. Susquehanna Valley Construction Corporation is the contractor on this $2.9 million project. Construction began in March, and PennDOT anticipates the project will be completed by mid-November. All schedules are subject to change due to weather, equipment breakdowns, or other unforeseen circumstances.
