Beaver Springs man sentenced in child sex assault
From staff reports
MIDDLEBURG — A Beaver Springs man who pleaded guilty to aggravated indecent assault of a 9-year-old was sentenced to five to 10 years of incarceration in a State Correctional Institution.
According to a news release from District Attorney Heath W. Brosius, 31-year-old Ryan Martin was sentenced on Sept. 12 by Snyder County President Judge Lori Hackenburg.
Martin will be required to register with Megan’s Law for his lifetime and was determined to be a sexually violent predator under Pennsylvania law.
Martin turned himself into the Pennsylvania State Police in August 2024 indicating he had been molesting his child and he needed help. He was accompanied to the state police by members of the Plain Christian Community in Snyder County. He admitted to the crime of Aggravated Indecent Assault and told State Police he wanted to take full accountability for his actions.
“Law enforcement handled this matter professionally and appropriately,” said Brosius, “a difficult thing to do because of the nature of Mr. Martin’s confession and the things he described himself doing.”
Brosius would continue, “I also want to offer my thanks to the Plain Christian Community in Snyder County. Members of the community accompanied Mr. Martin to the Selinsgrove State Police Barracks and supported his wife and children at home while Martin’s case progressed through the criminal justice system. They pushed for Mr. Martin to take accountability and plead guilty to this charge.”
