From staff reports
McVEYTOWN — A 47-year-old man was jailed recently when police said he illegally transferred an unregistered firearm.
Aaron Michael Dimoff, of McVeytown, was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Kent Smith on multiple counts of possession of a firearm when prohibited and owning a firearm.
According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, police were contacted when a man purchased an AR-15-style rifle from Dimoff that did not have a serial number.
The report says Dimoff reached out to the man via text message on July 16, asking if he wanted the firearm.
The report says the man agreed to make two payments via CashApp and went to Dimoff’s residence on Loop Road, Wayne Township, to pick it up.
The report says Dimoff gave the man the gun in a cloth guitar case which contained several .223 rounds. Police said the rifle did not display a make or model.
Police said Dimoff is not legally eligible to own a gun due to prior felony drug convictions.
Dimoff is being held in Mifflin County Correctional Facility, unable to post $100,000 bail. He is awaiting a preliminary hearing set for 11 a.m. Aug. 26.
