Burnham Community Day set for Saturday

BURNHAM — Burnham Community Day is just around the corner from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 30, on Beech Street.
Breakfast will be served at the Burnham Lions Club at 7 a.m.
Locals can enjoy a variety of vendors on Beech Street from 2nd Avenue to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. Vendors may close up shop by 2:30 p.m.
According to Burnham Community Day Acting President Holly Dean, some of the food vendors include Sweet Side Bakery, Curbside Kitchen, Flipping Fred’s Grill, and more.
Vendors will offer a variety of items, including crochet, jewelry, Halloween signs, purses, aromatherapy products, custom knives, and other products. Attendees can also find many items at yard sales throughout the day.
Patrons can buy auction tickets and 50/50 tickets at the information booth located across from the Burnham Fire Co.
Auction tickets are $1 or 10 for $5, and 50/50 tickets are $1 or six for $5.
Those who purchase tickets do not have to be present to win when organizers draw winning tickets at 1:30 p.m.
Dean said that local businesses, including have been very generous in their donations to the auction.
A Vietnam Veterans Memorial Service will take place at the circle on Fifth Avenue.
Attendees can park for free on side streets.
“It’s a way for the community to come together and spend the day together,” Dean said.
All proceeds from Burnham Community Day will go toward funding nonprofits within the community, including Burnham Fire Co., the Burnham swimming pool, FAME EMS, and others.
