Bingo, benefit on tap this weekend

There’ll be a lot of racing around this weekend, and someone is bound to yell ‘BINGO!’

Racing bingo is on the activities card at the East Waterford Fire Co., located at 9607 Route 75 in East Waterford, this weekend as the doors and kitchen open at noon for the Saturday event. Bingo games get underway at 1 p.m.

Tickets cost $25, while prizes will be racing themed – naturally. There will also be rip tickets and 50/50 tickets sold at the event, which is scheduled to last until 4 p.m.

Bentley’s Battle Benefit Ride

Solar viewing will take place on Saturday afternoon at Greenwood Furnace State Park in Huntingdon.

If a benefit ride on the roadway is more your style, the Bentley’s Battle Benefit Ride will be held on Saturday at the Port Royal Lions Club Park on Lions Club Park Road in Port Royal. Registration is from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m., with the ride starting at noon. The cost is $20 per single ride and $25 for each couple. A meal will follow the ride. Proceeds from the event benefit 14-year-old Bentley Fulkroad, of Mifflintown, and his family for his expenses due to a heart condition. The rain date is Sunday. For more info, call (717) 363-1504.

• Car Hop, 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Lack Tuscarora EMS parking lot, 9320 Route 75 South in East Waterford. Take a step back in time with hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, chili dogs, French fries, onion rings, chicken nuggets, chili, milkshakes, soda and water – all delivered to your vehicle.

• Fly-in, Drive-in, Walk-in Breakfast, 8 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Mifflin County Airport, EEA 518 Clubhouse, Building 4, Airfield end.

• Summer Blast Craft Show, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, at the Heritage Volunteer Fire Co., 218 S. Main St. in Lewistown. Discover a diverse selection of more than 20 vendors showcasing unique products. You can also indulge in delicious offerings from a variety of food trucks.

• Solar Viewing at Greenwood Furnace State Park, 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Greenwood Furnace State Park, Huntingdon Road, Huntingdon. Join Bill Arden, of the Central Pennsylvania Observers Club, for a safe way to view the sun. A telescope will be set up at the grassy point near the beach.

Beavertown Historical Society Museum

The Beavertown Historical Society Museum, located at the Beavertown Borough Building, 111 W. Walnut St., Beavertown,will feature Ted Herman’s World War II exhibit, showcasing military uniforms and additional wartime artifacts from other sources. The exhibit will be open from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday and again on Aug. 24. The book “Beavertown’s Snapshots in Time” will also be available at the museum for a donation of $45.
