BURNHAM — The SteelWorx Pump Track in Burnham celebrated its birthday on Facebook on May 2, and it’s still growing.
Track officials said new concrete pads were poured by Artisanal Concrete LLC, of Mifflintown, in mid-May that will enable the track to put its signage up as well as a bike rack and maintenance stand, which was purchased with Two Brothers Bicycle Co., of Burnham.
Having the maintenance stand installed is important to riders who might experience a bicycle problem while using the track.
“The stand will hold your bike, has most commonly used bike tools attached to it, as well as an air pump so you can inflate tires and fix your bike on the spot as needed,” said Chris Johnston, owner of Two Brothers Bicycle Co.
Visitors will also see a new fence, located near the roadway. While the track is still open to ride, the fence provides additional safety for all the riders entering and exiting the track when the gate is open and cars are able to drive through.

Carli Russler and Shannon McGonigle of Every Kid Rides Project, which created and manages the track, also had an important safety reminder for parents to give their children while riding their bicycles.
“Please remind your kiddos to watch out for cars, wear helmets and stay off the sides as we’re hoping the grass will grow,” they said.
