Area woman arraigned on assault charges
From staff reports
LEWISTOWN — A 24-year-old woman was arrested Thursday after police said she assaulted an officer.
Emmalee Patricia Palm, of Lewistown, was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Craig Weston on one count of felony aggravated assault, one count of felony obstruction and resisting arrest.
According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, police were called to 2 Ridge Road early Thursday for a possible sexual assault involving a 12-year-old and a 22-year-old man.
Throughout the course of the interview, police said they had cause to interview Palm, who lives at the residence where the alleged assault occurred.
During the police interview, Palm allegedly led police to believe that there was a possibility the 12-year-old was 19. Police said the exchange led them to believe Palm may have lured the 12-year-old to her residence.
The report says Palm was being deceitful in showing evidence to the officer on her cell phone. Police said Palm would allow officers to view some photos on her phone, but was purposely hiding other areas on the screen. For this reason, police advised that they were going to confiscate her cell phone and would obtain a search warrant for it, which Palm then attempted to hide behind her back.
Police said when they attempted to obtain the phone, Palm kicked them. Palm was then placed under arrest. The report says she then continued kicking and punching the officer.
Palm was held in Mifflin County Correctional Facility, unable to post $50,000 bail. She is awaiting a preliminary hearing set for 9 a.m. Aug. 27.
